General Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Tasks):

Manages and directs Counseling Services, including the areas of academic, personal, and career counseling. Coordinates assigned activities with other divisions and departments, and provides highly complex staff assistance to the Associate Dean/Chairman/Proctor/Provost for Student Success. The position is responsible for coordinating the delivery of a comprehensive guidance and counseling program for undergraduate and graduate students in Jashore University of Science and Technology.

Mandatory Activities:

Endorsement of certification for skills associated with sports and cultural activities
Financial or Scholarship Supports for disable, poor and brilliant students.
Authorization of Student Clearance before Graduation Certification
Organize and coordinate the orientation program for new students and Graduation Ceremonies,
Authorization of any kind of Student Organizations in Campus.
Authorization of External Singer, Speaker or Guest invited by Students.
TSC and Cafeteria; Proper Management and Development
Organize and Selection process for Intra-Department and Intra-University Cultural and Sports Competitions.
Financial support or award program for extra ordinary student’s skills with Cultural activities and Sports.
Authorization and Permission for Campaign, Seminar, Workshop organized by Students.
Authorization and Permission for Any Kind of Tour like Study Tour, Field Trip, etc.

Miscellaneous Activities:

1. Oversee academic advising or information regarding career opportunities, professional standards and disability programs.

2. Promote student participation in social, cultural and recreational activities;

3. Develop, implement, and promote programs that foster student leadership and professionalism;

4. Regular Notice of student-related university activities and events;

5. Coordinate student activities at the state, regional, and national levels;

6. Develop and sustain effective communications and relationships with students, administrators, faculty, and staff;

7. Assist referred students experiencing difficulty with information verification and problem solving;

8. Establish procedures for archiving and management of records for current and former students;

9. Provide employment Information’s, education and certification Information’s.

1. Counseling and Guidance

Counseling and guidance programs are generally available for undergraduate and Masters Students. Usual services are available for all students in every working days (Saturday to Wednesday), but exclusive services are provided on a time-limited basis;

(Sunday: 3.00 PM to 5.00 PM and Wednesday 2.30 PM to 5.00 PM): Such as:

1. Individual or Personal Counseling for Personal and Social Development

2. Group Counseling

3. Couples Counseling

4. Crisis Management Counseling

5. Problem solving Counseling; on-campus (in Hall) or off-campus (in Guest house)

6. Dissertation/Scholarly Activity/Research/Scholarship Counselling for Carrier Development.

7. Drug, Smoke and Alcohol Abuse Counseling

8. Rehabilitation Counseling

Sexual Harassment and ragging counselling.
Ethics and Attitude Counselling

2. Extra-Curricular, Club Activities:

Office of the Director (Student Counselling and Guidance) to take care of all affairs related to welfare and guidance of students. From the inception of orientation programs, the students of this university voluntarily participate in extracurricular and club activities in order to enhance their physical, intellectual, moral and ethical development. The clubs are active and contribute successfully in arranging different events in the university. They organize inter-batch competitions, teams for inter-university and other competitions etc. They also organize different important events like cultural, sports, debate etc and participate in different events and competitions. The students of JUST are also connected with other universities through different clubs.
