Dr. Md. Shimul Islam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Bangladesh. With a Ph.D. in Chemical System and Engineering from Kyushu University, Japan, his research focuses on the development of advanced food preservation systems using ionic liquids and nano-formulations.
He specializes in chemical synthesis, analytical method development, emulsion and micelle formulation, and in vivo pharmacokinetics. Dr. Islam has led several funded research projects, particularly in enhancing the solubility and bioavailability of natural food compounds. His work is widely published in international journals (over 15 peer-reviewed research papers (h-index = 9; i10-index = 9; August 2025), addressing themes such as food safety, nutritional biochemistry, and the interface of food science and human health.
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Islam currently serves as the Transport Administrator at JUST and has previously held positions such as Assistant Professor and Assistant Provost. His interdisciplinary expertise bridges chemical engineering, food technology, and public health nutrition.
