    Biography

Dr. Bablu Hira Mandal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jashore, Bangladesh. Before joining to JUST, Jashore in March 2012 Mandal was as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Govt. Michael Madhushudan College, Jashore under Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), Education Cadre. His academic and research career spans over two decades, with a focus on environmental chemistry and agrochemical interactions in terrestrial ecosystems.

Dr. Mandal earned his PhD from the School of Agriculture and Environment (SAgE) at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in December 2023. His doctoral research, titled “Role of fulvic acid in alleviating glyphosate damage to crops,” investigated the potential of natural organic compounds to mitigate the adverse effects of herbicide exposure on crop health and soil micronutrient availability. His PhD was supported by two competitive and prestigious scholarships: the Research Training Program (RTP) and University Postgraduate Award (UPA), funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government.

Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Mandal completed both his BSc (Honours) and MSc in Chemistry from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, graduating with First Class and securing the top position in both programs. He also earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from Bangladesh Open University with First Class distinction.

    His current research interests include:

    • Water quality analysis and pollution remediation
    • Fate and transport of agrochemicals in soil-plant systems
    • Impact of herbicides on micronutrient dynamics and plant uptake
    • Application of natural organic matter (e.g., fulvic and humic acids) in sustainable agriculture

Dr. Mandal is actively involved in interdisciplinary research collaborations and is committed to advancing environmentally sustainable solutions in agricultural and environmental management.
