Prof. Dr. Md. Minhaj Uddin Monir is a leading academic and researcher, currently serving as Professor at the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Bangladesh, since June 2023. He also acts as Director (additional in-charge) of Research Cell at JUST.

Dr. Monir began his academic career at JUST as a Lecturer in December 2010, advancing to Assistant Professor in February 2014, Associate Professor in February 2020, and Professor in June 2023. His earlier roles include serving as an Instructor (Technical) at the Department of Mining and Mine Survey Technology, Bogura Polytechnic Institute, under the Directorate of Bangladesh Technical Education from 2006 to 2010.

He holds B.Sc. (2001) and M.Sc. (2002) degrees in Geology and Mining from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and earned his PhD in Energy and Environment from University Malaysia Pahang in 2019.

Research Contributions and Impact

Dr. Monir’s research is focused on renewable energy and environmental engineering, with a particular focus on gasification and co-gasification, biomass and bioenergy, and coal processing. He has made significant scholarly contributions, authoring 52 journal articles indexed by Web of Science and Scopus, and a total of over 65 peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, he has contributed 16 book chapters published by renowned international publishers such as Elsevier and Springer and also published 7 conference proceedings.
