    Biography

I am working as Assoc. Prof. in the Dept. of Nutrition and Food Technology since January 03, 2017. I have obtained my B.Sc. and M.Phil. degree from the Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and M.Sc. from the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science (INFS), University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and awarded PhD from the University of Montpellier 1, France on "Mechanism of Compartmentalization of cAMP/PKA in pancreatic beta-cells". I was postdoctoral scholar in Hershey Medical College under Penn State University, USA where we first time showed that BRSK-2 gene is linked with insulin secretion mechanisms in pancreatic beta-cells. I also served as Associate Professor in the Dept. of Nutrition and Food Engineering, Daffodil International University (Jan 2016-Dec. 2016) and in the Dept. of Physiology and Molecular Biology as Assoc. Prof., Bangladesh University of Health Sciences, Dhaka (Nov. 2013 to Dec 2015), worked as Research Officer and Senior Research Officer at BIRDEM Hospital Dhaka (May1996 - Nov.2013). I had an opportunity to work as Research Associate in Rockefeller Foundation Funded project entitled "Salt Tolerant Rice Development" headed by Prof Zeba Islam Seraj, University of Dhaka (1993-1996), and also worked in a UNICEF funded project on National Iodine Deficiency and Disorder (IDD) survey as Research Associate headed by Renowned Professor Harun Kader Yusuf, University of Dhaka. My current research interest is anti-diabetic plant materials specially which potentiates management of diabetes mellitus in insulin-independent pathway without stimulating pancreatic beta-cells.
