Md Mer Mosharraf Hossain, PhD, has held the position of Professor in the Department of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jashore-7408, Bangladesh since 2010. With a diverse educational background, including a Ph.D. in Aquaculture and Livestock Production (Fish Pathology & Immunology) from Ehime University, Japan, a Post-Doc from Dalhousie University, NSAC, Aquaculture Centre, Nova Scotia, Truro, Canada, an MSc in Agriculture (Aquatic Bioscience) from Kochi University, Japan, an MS in Aquaculture (Fish & Health Management) from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Bangladesh, and a B.Sc. Honors in Fisheries from BAU, Bangladesh, Dr. Hossain has acquired comprehensive expertise in his field. He has also received training on IQAC from UPM, HELP, NOTTINGHAM, UM in Malaysia, and on Shrimp Health from AAHRI & NACA in Thailand. His teaching portfolio includes Fish Molecular Biology, Advanced Fish Immunology, Fish Pathology and Immunology, Fish Diseases (Bacteriology) and Health Management, Fish Parasitology, Aquaculture, Advanced Freshwater Aquaculture, Integrated Aquafarming, Aquaculture Engineering and Farm Management, Good Aquaculture Practices, Fish Pharmacology, and Aquatic Medicine. Currently, his research focuses on major disease-producing bacteria in freshwater and brackish water aquatic organisms, involving Gene Expression, Gene sequencing, PCR, RT-PCR, RT-qPCR, primer design, DNA or RNA isolations, cDNA library preparation, DNA quantifications, Nano-immune-particles, Bio-active compounds, Inactivated vaccine development, and Gel/PAGE electrophoresis of PCR products. Additionally, he is proficient in software analysis, utilizing tools such as MS-Excel, SPSS, EndNote, NTSYS, NTSYS-UPGMA, Power Marker software, POPGENE, NCBI-BLAST, UniProt, Primer3Plus, ORFfinder, Clustal Omega, MEGA-X, Chromas, Bio-edit, SegMAN, DNAMAN, VOSviewer, Design Expert, ArcGIS, and OriginLab. He has garnered an impressive tally of approximately seventeen (17) external project grants from esteemed national and international organizations such as HEQEP, UGC, IDRS-BFRI, BFRF, MOST, JUST-UGC, (MOE) BANBEIS, KGF (BKGET) CGP, and DOF-SCMFP, demonstrating his exceptional track record in securing funding. These projects have been executed with unparalleled excellence, solidifying his reputation for delivering results of the highest caliber. Furthermore, he has spearheaded the development of numerous cutting-edge research outputs and protocols in the realm of fish disease and molecular research, serving as a catalyst for advancements that benefit not only the fisheries community but also students and fellow researchers.
