Mr. Md. Biplob Hossain received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Bangladesh in 2016 and 2019, respectively, both in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). In 2016, he was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of EEE at Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology (BAUET), Bangladesh, where he was from August 2016 to 10th December 2018. From 11th December 2018 to 17th February 2020, he was working as a lecturer with the department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jashore-7408, Bangladesh. Since 18th February 2020, he has been working as an Assistant Professor with the same department at JUST. Now he is pursuing his PhD in the School of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering (SECTE), Faculty of Engineering & Information Sciences, University of Wollongong, NSW 2522, Australia. He has authored and co-authored a remarkable peer-reviewed articles in various international journals including publications in Elsevier, Springer, IEEE, ASP, MDPI, Hindawi, DE GRUYTER and SPIE. His research interests are renewable energy, smart-grid, power system management, advanced control and coordination of fuel cell-electrolyzer, hydrogen fuel and storage, control and power management of integrating hydrogen fuel technology into the grid, and utilization of solid-state transformer for fuel cell-electrolyzer applications.
He was working with CRC-future Fuels as a part of his PhD study at UOW where he was involved with a project named "Grid interaction of electrolyser and fuel cells for utilisation of renewable energy surplus”. One of the main milestones of the project is to make the electrolyzer and fuel cells integrated hybrid energy storage system efficient, reliable, and cost-effective for utilizing renewable energy surplus to convert green hydrogen.
As the world transitions to a zero-carbon economy, for example, Australia has a target of 50 % renewable by 2050, the production and storage of hydrogen from surplus renewable is receiving globally research interest. This area is highly inclined with Mr. Hossain’s research area. Moreover, during his PhD, he developed advanced control decisions to produce hydrogen from surplus renewable efficiently. Thus, if he gets opportunities in industry, he would be able to utilize his knowledge to better Australia.
Mr. Hossain has developed skills in different software such as MATLAB, LabView, and PSCAD. During PhD studies, he focused on making the integrated energy system efficient, reliable, and cost-effective. He modeled and developed a novel power flow controller with an advanced control strategy for energy flow between the grid-electrolyser to produce hydrogen and between fuel cell-grid to control the stored hydrogen conversion.
Mr. Hossain has an internationally recognised records of exceptional achievements in research academia and industry. Due to his outstanding academic and research achievements, he promoted to assistant professor early at Jashore University of Science and Technology, a top-class public university in Bangladesh. He has appeared in top 2% list of world' scientists from 2023 to 2021 for the research impact from 2020 and 2022. This selection is based on the Scopus database conducted by the Elsevier BV, Stanford University. In 2022 and 2023, he secured this prestigious position in the engineering school at University of Wollongong (UOW).
