    Biography

Dr. Md Biplob Hossain received the Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc) degrees from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Bangladesh, in 2016 and 2019, respectively, both in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). In his BSc and MSc studies, he secured the first class 4th and 2nd position, respectively, in order of merit. In 2016, he was appointed as a lecturer in the department of EEE at Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology (BAUET), Bangladesh, where he was from August 2016 to 10th December 2018. From 11th December 2018 to 17th February 2020, he was working as a lecturer in the department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jashore-7408, Bangladesh, later, he was promoted to Assist/Prof. with the same department at JUST. For his PhD, he moved to the University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia, and obtained prestigious “University Postgraduate Award (UPA)”, and “International Postgraduate Tuition Award (IPTA)” scholarships from UOW. He pursued PhD in the School of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering (SECTE), Faculty of Engineering & Information Sciences at UOW, and was conducting a casual Academic role in the same school at UOW.

He has authored and co-authored in remarkable peer-reviewed articles in various international journals including IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, Wily, ASP, SPIE, and so forth. He secured several times best paper/presenter awards. His research interests are the integration of renewable energies and challenges for the grid perspective, smart grid and power system management, advanced control and converter design for traditional and hydrogen storage (fuel cell-electrolyser), control and power management of integrating hydrogen technology into the grid, and utilisation of solid-state power converter for green hydrogen applications.

He was working with Future Fuels-CRC as a part of his PhD study at UOW where he was involved with a project named "Grid interaction of electrolysers and fuel cells for utilisation of renewable energy surplus where he conducted research to make electrolyser and fuel cell integrated hybrid energy storage system efficient, reliable, and cost-effective for utilizing renewable energy surplus to convert green hydrogen. He has successfully completed this project by getting positive feedback from the Future Fuels-CRC and was awarded a PhD with an outstanding thesis award.

Moreover, He developed advanced control decisions applied to advanced power electronics devices with integrated renewable energy to produce hydrogen from surplus renewable efficiently. He developed skills in MATLAB, PSCAD, and PSSE softwares and used them for power system modeling, design, and analysis, improving the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of renewable hybrid systems. The skills and expertise he obtained will have great potential to improve the performance of multi-energy (electricity and hydrogen) grids and greatly strengthen the competitiveness of the Australian energy/power sector in the world market.

Dr. Hossain has an internationally recognised record of exceptional achievements in research academia. Due to his outstanding academic and research achievements, he was promoted to Assist./Prof. early at JUST, a top-class public university in Bangladesh. He has appeared in the top 2% list of the world's scientists from 2021 to 2025 for the research impact. This selection is based on the Scopus database conducted by Elsevier BV, Stanford University. He received several times university technical scholarships in recognition of securing the highest grades.
