Dr. Md. Mashiar Rahman has been serving as a Professor in the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jashore-7408, Bangladesh, since 29 August 2026. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor in the same department from 9 May 2021 to 28 August 2026. Before that, he served as an Assistant Professor in the same department from 28 October 2013 to 8 May 2021.

He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Laboratory of Microbiology and Genetics, Department of Medicine, Jeonbuk National University (formerly Chonbuk National University), South Korea from September 2012 to 25 October 2013.

He obtained his Ph.D. in Medical Science from the Department of Medicine, Jeonbuk National University (formerly Chonbuk National University), South Korea, in August 2012.

Prior to enrolling in the Ph.D. program, he worked as a Research Assistant from 20 June 2008 to 28 February 2009 JINIS Biopharmaceuticals Co., Wanju, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea.

His research focuses on the discovery of biomarkers for neurological, oncological, immunological, cardiovascular, and infectious diseases, as well as the identification and development of drug candidates and functional dairy products for currently incurable diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD). He is the Head of the GABA-M (Gut-Brain-Axis, Alzheimer's, Biomarker, Antibiotic Resistance, and Molecular Biology) Laboratory in the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), Jashore-7408, Bangladesh. He has received research funding from prestigious funding agencies, including the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) and the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project.. He has published numerous research articles in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
