S M Monirul Islam chose the teaching profession as a passion from the very beginning of his career. He completed his BBA and MBA from the Department of Marketing, University of Rajshahi with very good academic results. He was awarded Rajshahi University Scholarship for his outstanding academic performance.
Mr. Islam joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Marketing of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) in December 2021. Before joining JUST, he had a long successful academic career in private universities. He served more than a decade in reputed private universities in several academic positions since 2007. Prior to joining JUST, he was an Associate Professor of Marketing and Head of the Department of Business Administration at a reputed private university.
Besides holding academic positions in his previous working places, he also performed different administrative roles i.e. Syndicate Member, Member of the Academic Council, Controller (In-charge) of Examinations, Head (Chairman) of the Department, Additional Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Director of Students Affairs, Coordinator of BBA program, Coordinator of MBA program, Coordinator of Overseas programs, etc.
He also worked on an international entrepreneurship development project (MELBU Project) from 2020 to 2021, which was funded by the European Union under the Erasmus Plus program. The partners of that project were Leipzig University Germany, Maritime University of Szczecin Poland, and six other Bangladeshi universities. S M Monirul Islam was the LEAR (Legal Entity Appointed Representative) and team leader of his previous university for that project.
He has professional linkage with different external organizations; he contributed as the resource person and business knowledge facilitator to the economic development project (for micro traders) of World Vision Bangladesh (an International NGO) and also conducted training sessions as a trainer for the college teachers in Higher Secondary Teachers Training Institute (HSTTI) Khulna.
S M Monirul Islam is interested in academic research, especially in the area of consumer behavior, E-commerce, and digital marketing. He published several research papers in different national and international academic journals. He is one of the panel reviewers of the Universal Journal of Management, USA since 2014 and he was a member of the editorial board of the academic journal (Knowledge for Enlightenment) at his previous university.
Mr. Islam supervised more than hundreds of internships and theses of BBA and MBA students during his stay at private universities from 2008 to 2021.
