Dr. Md. Ikram Hossain is a researcher and academic in Chemical engineering, with a background in both industrial and academic environments. After completing his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Jashore University of Science & Technology (JUST), Bangladesh, he began his professional career as an assistant chemical engineer in chlor-alkali plants, gaining valuable industrial experience in process engineering, instrumentation, plant operations, and safety management.
In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship to pursue graduate studies in Japan. He earned both his M.Sc. (2018) and Ph.D. (2021) in Chemistry from Tohoku University, where his research focused on Surface chemistry, nanotechnology, electrochemistry, and atomic-scale surface characterization using advanced techniques such as Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and various spectroscopic methods. He also engaged in postdoctoral research at Tohoku University, contributing to developing single-molecule magnet detection systems combining radio-frequency with scanning tunneling microscopy.
Currently, Dr. Hossain is working as a lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at JUST, where he supervises undergraduate research and leads several funded projects on nanomaterials, biosensors, and energy conversion. His expertise spans experimental research and applied academic studies, making him well-positioned to contribute to research, development, and innovation in academia.
