Development of a Low-Cost Arduino based electro-pneumatic trainer kit

Dr. Shakhawat Hossain

This work represents a low-budget Arduino-based electro-pneumatic trainer kit for gaining knowledge about pneumatic control systems which is now a promising technology in Industry 4.0. The manufacturing process of this device begins withthe selection& assembly of mechanical & electrical components includingactuators, valves, FRL unit, necessary power source and circuits &Arduino with necessary codes for control & operation, and finishing the work by testing it. Furthermore, we connect the device to a laptop for better & handy control. The results showed that the Arduino-based electro-pneumatic trainer kit made weighted kg with dimensions length of 789.94 mm, width of 586.74mm, thickness of 50.8 mm & weight of 7 kg. Here, barometric pressure required 0.6-0.9 MPato activate the actuators. the working function of actuators is controlled by two knobs connected with a breadboard & actuated by Arduino and can be observed the on/off time of the pneumatic cylinder via a LED display. Though there are some limitations, this device gives a beneficial knowledge about pneumatic control systems& its various applications in Industry 4.0 and also a good knowledge about measurement, instruments and control.
