Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) started functioning in 2008, during the 2008-2009 session. The classes of the first batch of students began on 10 June 2009. The first four departments were Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Environmental Science & Technology (EST), Microbiology (MB), and Fisheries and Marine Bioscience (FMB).

In 2009, JUST added Nutrition & Food Technology (NFT), Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE), Chemical Engineering (ChE), Petroleum & Mining Engineering (PME), and Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology (GEBT). In 2010, the Pharmacy department was created. In 2012 Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) were added.

In 2013 four new departments were started: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Statistics, and English. Accounting and Information Systems and Agro Product Processing Technology were started from the academic year 2015–16. In the academic year 2016–2017, one new department called Biomedical Engineering (BME) began.

In the academic year 2017–18, three new departments were established; Finance & Banking, Management, and Textile Engineering (TE). The Marketing and Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation departments started in the academic year 2018–19, Climate and Disaster management (CDM), Nursing and Health Science (NHS) started in the academic year 2019-2020.

Academic calendar :

The academic year and session are generally divided into two semesters. The first semester starts in the month of January and the second semester starts in the month of July. One semester is composed of 18.4 weeks and each week consists of 5 working days. A full-time undergraduate course consists of four sessions or eight semesters. A regular examination is held at the end of each semester besides class tests for continuous assessment of progress.

Residence facility :

1. Shaheed Moshiur Rahman Hall :

This is a five-stored building with 500 students’ capacity. There are many facilities available for the residential students like other public universities in Bangladesh such as a TV room, a reading room, a gymnasium, and a canteen.

2. Sheikh Hasina Student Hall :

This is also a five stored building with 500 students’ capacity only for the female students. There are many facilities available for the residential students like other public universities in Bangladesh such as a TV room, Reading room, gymnasium, Canteen. The hall has the facilities of photocopy, Print, and laundry for the residential students. The students and the organizing committee organize different game competitions from time to time.

Central Library :

Jashore University of Science and Technology has six (06) storied library buildings. Currently, there are approximately 30,000 books and more than 100 journals available for both students and faculty members. New books are added to the collection every month. Students or faculty members can study and/or borrow desired books from here. The library is open from 9 am to 8 pm from Saturday to Wednesday. An E-library facility is also available here.

TSC and cafeteria :

This is located at the west-eastern corner of JUST campus. Cafeteria The university has a two-storied big and specious central cafeteria which has separated sections for teachers, students, and stuffs. The cafeteria serves a wide variety of delicious foods. One can have snacks as well as the major meals of the day from the cafeteria at a decent price compared to other restaurants outside of the campus.

Dormitory and tower :

The JUST dormitory is located at the south-eastern corner of JUST campus. This five-storied dormitory is available for the faculty members and administrative staff of JUST. There is also a 10 storied Madhumati tower for the faculty members and administrative staff of the university.

Medical Center :

The campus has a large and well-equipped medical center with four specialist doctors. There is also a 24/7 ambulance service for emergency patient transportations. Students can get medical service on a 24/7 basis which is free of cost. Students also get the necessary medicines that are prescribed by the doctors for their treatments without any cost.

Genome Center :

Genomic information is very important to unveil new opportunities for diagnostics and treatment of incurable diseases. For this purpose, the Genome Center of Jashore University of Science and Technology will serve as an important resource on the use of genomic data and will provide a specialized facility for advanced and high-throughput biomedical research. This center will herald a new age of cutting-edge research in Bangladesh. Its main task is to improve the responsible use of genomic information in the advancement of human wellbeing and to direct the national genome database. Genomic data have already restructured the diagnostics and treatment of several types of cancer and hereditary disease.

Auditorium For Conferences :

A beautiful auditorium/gallery is located on the ground floor of the academic building. Special events like seminars, conferences, cultural programs, discussions, meetings, etc. generally take place here. Central mosque:

The central mosque is located on the west side of the JUST campus for the prayers of the Muslim students and staff members of JUST.
