With the mission ‘to foster new ideas and innovation in science and technology driven by a professional, technology-oriented and humanistic focus, in a knowledge-based culture of excellence to serve the nation and the world in the 21st century’ the Jashore University of Science and Technology was established in 2007. However, at the beginning, the university started its academic activities in the 2008-09 academic session with four departments and in the same year, the Faculty of Biological Science started its journey with two departments Microbiology and Fisheries and Marine Bioscience. Later, the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (2010) and the Department of Pharmacy (2010)) were included in the Faculty. In very recent, the faculty rich with opening a new department, the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2024. 

Since its inception, the primary goal of this faculty has been to offer degrees to the students at Bachelor with Honors (BSc), Graduates (MSc/MS), and Post Graduate (MPhil, PhD) levels via different departments functioning under it. Currently, departments belonging to this faculty have been conducting research on various fields of national interest, which have already earned recognition and fame at both national and international levels. To explore the various study sectors of life sciences at the Faculty of Biological Sciences and to propel learning forward with diversified coursework, exceptional faculty-led research labs and real-world experiences are the main goals. With the understanding of the responsible management of the resources and ecosystems upon which sustainable development of the country, different academic departments under the faculty of Biological Science and Technology of Jashore University of Science and Technology provide education in different fields of agricultural, biotechnological, Microbial, and pharmaceutical sciences through problem-based learning with a focus on the country’s natural resource management on a sustainable basis and as such adopts interdisciplinary learning and research approaches.

For advanced research in the different areas of biological sciences, the Genome Center, Modern Hatchery and Wet Lab, Biotechnology Research Centre and the Advanced Centre for Biological Research were established under the Faculty at different times. I believe the research and academic excellence of the faculty will lead the innovation in Biological Science for the world.
