The Department of Chemical Engineering (ChE)has successfully organized a one-day longengineering workshop entitled “Process Safety and Technical Risk in Chemical Industries” on 14 July, 2018 in virtual classroom of Jessore University of Science & Technology (JUST). The honorable Vice Chancellor of the UniversityProf. Md. Anwar Hossain, PhD was chief guest andProf. Dr. Biplob Kumar Biswas, Dean,Faculty of Engineering and Technology was presentas a special guest. Organizing chairpersonand Chairman of ChEDr. Md. WasikurRahmandelivered welcoming speech and inaugurated the workshop.
The workshop was attended by03 prominent Speakers from different organizations.Md. RajiourRahmanMollick(General Manager, BCIC),FarukMuktadir(Director, HSE, Bangladesh & China Cluster Coats)and Md. ShameemHossain(Assistant professor, KUET) were delivered keynote speeches.
The purpose of the workshop was to develop practical skills and competence of the students related to Process safety, Chemical safety, Personal safety, in general, Safety in Fertilizer, Oil and Gas process industries to reduce Technical risk in Chemical Industries. The engineering workshop was designed to be practical with lectures, demonstration and technical activities to boost engineering knowledge and skills. Therefore, this workshop providedthe participants not only essential knowledge but also a great platform to share ideas, views and experienceswith the technical experts.A safety design competition was arranged for the participants.Group-1 won the best award due to nice presentation of Ammonia Fertilizer.
Honorable Vice Chancellor of the University delighted the closing ceremony and delivereddirective and influential speech to the audience. Then a photo session was arranged. Finally, organizing chairperson of the department,Dr. Md. WasikurRahmanthanked to the organizers and participants and declaredofficial closing of the workshop.
